Helping Haiti

The Rotary Club of Courtice and The Interact Club of Clarington have taken action to help out with those struggling to survive after the massive 7.0 on the Richter scale earthquake in Haiti. The local service clubs have approved the purchase of a ShelterBox ($1,000) to be shipped to Haiti. The decision was made as all other member clubs (54) in Rotary District 7070 (which stretches from the western edge of Toronto to Brighton) are being challenged to support these people in need. A ShelterBox is a large plastic container that contains enough supplies to last 10 people for about six months. It includes a 10 person tent, sleeping bags, light and heat sources, clean water plus cooking supplies and tools.
